good question
Last week the check oil light on my truck come on randomly when I started it, well then when I stoped the engine it didn’t come on again after but then a few days later it came on again and stayed on a few times and then today it didn’t come on, is the sensor just bad? The dipstick has oil on it, it was leaking oil for a bit but now it’s not dripping oil anymore so I don’t know, still got oil in it, the oil was dripping from the transmission pan but it was oil so I thought it may be the rear main.

Are you checking level on a flat, level surface? How high is the level on the dip stick? A drop on the very end of the stick isn't enough.

The sensor is on the side of the oil pan. It's easy to see and check for loose connection or damaged wiring.

^Good questions. With my old engine, if I was half a quart low AND parked on a steep incline the light would come on when I started it. New engine has never been low by oil change time.
