I just ran to harbor freight and stocked up on silicon carbide grinding wheels for my dremel. Waiting for my buddy to bring home my pinion depth tool and dial indicator. I don't have a dial indicating torque wrench so im a tad nervous doing the pinion pre-load but I think I can do it with a clicky style if I'm very carefull.

I used a beam style torque wrench. Just a few bucks at local auto parts store.

So what I did for preload, is just get it tight enough to have a slight resistance when turning by hand. Inch lbs is very minimal and I use an inch lb torque driver at work for setting battery caps on our air packs. Basically 15 inch lbs is what you can tighten a screw to, using your thumb and index finger while pinching a screw driver handle with straight fingers, not having your fingers wrapped around the handle. If that makes sense.

I've never seen them in inch pound though. I have a beam style but it starts at like 20ft lb.

The one I have is a 1/4" drive, inch/lb. Only issue I had was I needed a 1/2" drive socket.

Same here. I had to "reduce it up" to 1/2".

Im searching the Amazon for one right now. Dial torque wrenches are just too damn expensive. I never thought beam styles existed that small so figured I was stuck using my clicky inch pound torque wrench and alot of prayers. Thanks for the heads up you non gender specific term for humanoids to which I show appreciation in a non threatening manner.

problem is it takes 10 ft lbs to get the adapters moving!
