Our 2010 standard bed, standard shift, 4 cyl. Ranger is getting ready for kayak season. REI wanted almost $1,000 for a rack. This all aluminum one was $320 from Home Depot. The 16 foot fiberglass kayaks will be done up proud.

Nice truck and rack. I built my yak rack from square aluminum tubing and spent more than that.

I picked this one up on amazon for $100 bucks. Holds my 14' kayak and my longer one piece rods in my super awesome custom tube.

We will be heading that way on Memorial day weekend. Gonna hit the Hawassi that Sat.

Does it make a noise on the highway? I once had a roof rack on a small sedan that required a front fairing to eliminate a loud howling.

Oh definitely, it sounds like a tornado when you drive over 50. But it's a truck not a luxury car so I could care less lol.

My roof racks are like that. The noise drove me nuts until I got the fairing sorted out.

Did you install that cop car search light? If so how much of a PITA was it?

Yes and not hard if you're brave. You have to drill a half inch hole through the door pillar at an extremely awkward angle, no way to make a pilot hole either so you have to use an extremely sharp bit and go very very slow. Screw up and you'll need a new door lol. Other than that it's very simple, the mounting kits are vehicle specific and come with templates and what not to make sure it's placed correctly. It's also self grounded and the switch doesn't require a relay so you just need to run one hot wire to the battery with a 20 amp fuse on it somewhere. I found that one on an old dump truck from the 70's but it's still brighter than all holy hell. The new ones are LED.
