Community interest: Slide-in camper

Existence is relative. We all may or may not exist, but if we do not exist as we know it, what we perceive still exists to us even if none of us exist. I refer you to the observation theories of quantum physics. The thought experiment of Erwin Schrodinger for one but more notably the double slit single photon experiment where the observed and unobserved photon react completely different. Are we observed, therefore are we forced to react a certain way because we therefore exist as a single waveform? Or are we unobserved and therefore completely theoretical? We observe the universe but does the universe observe us?

The very act of observation ends the quantum state, ends the experiment and nullifies the results. Therefore you actually have no idea what the unobserved photon was doing, only what the observed photon was doing at the moment you observed it. To put is simply I think "quantum physics" is a bunch of malarkey used to cover for, or avoid saying, "we don't know what's happening and we can't explain it."

I might not be active much anymore, but I remember how his mind works... or doesn't. That's something that is definitely covered under my definition of "quantum physics".

Well, since I want to get rid of the only working 1983-2012 that I currently have, I think that would be an affirmative. I can't vote for either of the yes options, but since I do want to build one of something else I can't exactly vote no either.

The Cowboy midsize would be an easy haul in a Ranger, downside is the price for what you get. The Retreat is more bang for the buck. I think it makes more sense to get a trailer unless you really don't want to tow something.

I agree. A small camper would be easier to store, install and detach, have the same if not more room, easier to drive the truck.

The only downsides are that you would have to put a plate on it and pay your yearly taxes for the trailer. Also would have to be able to back up with a trailer.

That's a minor mental problem easily overcome with a bit of practice.

For now I still tent it. A few companies make trail-worthy camping trailers. I pretty much only camp for the Ford Nationals and if we go to a NASCAR or NHRA race.

The way I'm looking to go about it, a very basic metal frame would be constructed, to support the floor of the loft, and the span of the roof. The walls would be constructed of either an aluminum/foam insulation laminate, or a fiberglass/ foam insulation laminate. Something similar was done HERE... Ambition Strikes did a camper welded directly to the frame, my design would either bolt directly to the frame, or use one of the more "conventional" attachment methods. It's the use of these specially constructed panels which should keep the weight down, while also making the thing look commercially made (assuming that matters)
