I have a ford range 1997 and I swap in a ford mustang 5.0 302 1987 with a ford f150 1997 transmission (M5OD-R2) manual. What is the flywheel and clutch I need to use from ?

And what startor I need to use with them ?

Thanks for your help !

If it's a 66 engine it's not a 302, it's a 289 unless it's one of the millions of early Mustangs that have had engine swaps. First I'd determine exactly what year the engine is, all 289's and 302's had 28.2 oz/in crankshaft imbalance until 81, then the 302 went to 50 oz/in. If you luck out and find that you have an 82 or later 302 you can just use the F150 flywheel and clutch parts. If it's a 28.2 engine I don't know what flywheel would work, maybe find out the tooth count on the F150 part and see what the aftermarket has to offer?

Sorry its a 1987 ford 302 (E7TE). I don't know why I wrote 1966...

‘96 F-150 5.0 for clutch, flywheel and starter. You need the engine separator plate too, bigger hole for the starter.

How would one come to obtain a separator plate? I cant seem to find one on flea bay.

JY, they are kind of a Pita to pull...

Truck ones are kinda unique.

Its just hard to find 4.2L v6 f150s since most of the ones here are either autos or v8s

Yup, and once you find one the seperator plate is wrong for the V8 clutch.

You could make either the V6 or summit plate work, the hole for the starter needs very slightly enlarged bit you have to be careful so the starter engages the ring gear correctly.

When looking at starters for the motor I found a lot of different styles.

Since Ive rebuilt starters and swapped drive gears before so I can always do modifications like that if I have to.

Also, what flywheel teeth count do I need? Ive heard the 164 is common or the only use for a manual. The summit flywheel says itll work with that teeth count.

EDIT: After further reading and looking closer... It can be used with 157 and 164
