I've been trying to put together a plan for a roof rack/canoe carrier for the cap of my truck. The price locally for materials is crazy and not having a bender had me looking on Amazon for something. I found two identical... what I assume are returned roof baskets (scuffs/scratches and damaged original packaging) in the Amazon Warehouse really cheap. After my $50 Christmas gift card and a few Amazon Prime points... I'm about $20 out of pocket for the two. I plan to cut the two up to make one the length I want and hopefully use the ends of one to make roof rack cross bars to mount the canoe. I guess when they get here. By the end of the week the temps will be in the 20's and with my little garage heater I'll see what I can make out of them.
Unless the cap came reinforced for carrying a load, I wouldn't do it unless you plan on building a cage on the inside of the cap to support the weight or design a rack the holds the weight separate from the cap. The cap fiber glass will crack without reinforcement. I tried to go that route with the original cap I had on my 2011. The only way to find out for sure is to call the cap manufacturer and give them the serial number. Chances will be high that it isn't reinforced.
It says on the LEER website... if factory installed with Thule roof rack it has a max capacity of 220 lbs with pretty much every cap they make. But my model is addressed in the list... 100XQ.
I'm gonna take my chances with my 50lb guide canoe... or my EZ up tent frame or an 8ft fiberglass ladder. It will probably void any warranty that may be left... so be it... it's time to drill a few holes and use it sensibly.
Changed oil. Found a coolant leak. Yay me!
No puddles but a few drops gathered on the crossmember and not leaking while running. Looks like the lower part of the WP gasket. The WP housing is dry but I see some on the the bottom of the assembly on the lower bolts. Area around and below the weep hole is bone dry and no noise. Now need to decide on whether to change the WP and gasket or just the gasket. This one has about 55k on it.
Should be reloadable, yeah. So don't pitch them, prices are stupid on basically anything to do with guns or ammo or reloading.Cleaned the frozen hay and about 1,000 rounds of 300 blackout cases out of the bed from my trip to Georgia 3 months ago.
Are 300 blackout cases re-useable? I don't own anything in that caliber but the market for used crap is higher than the price for scrap brass in most cases. I know some cases are not reusable though.
Damn battery is only 2 years old too...
