I have a 2020 2WD Ranger. Looking to upgrade to larger all terrain tires. I dont plan on doing any real offroading, otherwise I would have gotten the 4x4 package. Any recommendations for all terrain or all season tires larger than then my stock R16s.

What is the gear ratio? It makes a big difference in how any of us would answer the question...

The big limitation is the clearance between the suspension and the side wall of the tires in the front. The forum owner drove a 2019 across the country when they were first released. The biggest he was able to go was 265/70R17 with the stock rims and he made sure the bash bars in the front and back of the front wheel wells were all the forward or all the way back respectively. There is a bit of slop or adjustment in those bars. He ran Cooper Discovery STT mud tires on that trip.

The only gear choice at the moment is 3.73:1.

And with the ring gear welded to the carrier I haven’t heard of any regear options.

My impression was that only the front differential had the ring gear welded to the carrier. The point remains the same though. Unless you can find someone with the skills to remove the old ring gear and weld on the new one, one can't do anything with the rear axle.

:dntknw:

The thing I found last week doesn't really say which one I guess... shows a pic of the rear for what that is worth.

Wow. Dumbassery like that I'd expect from a German.. Well.. Any Euro manufacturer. Not Ford.
