97 4 Banger engine swap

Not sure if this is the right section, but here goes. I’m wanting to swap a 2.3 Automatic engine, ~105k miles, into a 2.3 Manual, ~240k miles. I’m assuming it will be plug and play? I’m going to be buying a new clutch and flywheel, so there shouldn’t be any concern there. But I was wondering if anyone else has done this, and could give me advice. Both trucks are a 1997. Just donor one is automatic.

Don't forget the pilot bearing/bushing. Automatic equipped have no need, so they are not installed into the PTO end of the crankshaft. To my knowledge, everything else should be b bolt-up swap.

Keep the computer from the manual but other than that it is a bolt in, all sensors should be the same

Yes, I did get one of those too. I just forgot to list it. Thanks for the input!

All the sensors so far look the same. I’m assuming I’ll need to keep the Manual wiring harness too, or I can try to modify the Automatics one. Stupid question, but the computer on these is right in the engine bay, correct? Where the main harness is.

I believe it is in the engine compartment, in '93 or was it '95 when they changed the dash they moved it from the passenger kick panel where it used to be. I think it's either in the cowl area or in an inner fender... been a while since I've been under the hood of one, or paid attention under the hood of my Explorer...

Yes, keep the manual harness, there isn't a whole lot to them but I think the trans connections are on the engine harness.

Yeah, that has to be it under the hood then. The only thing in the passenger kick panel is the fuel pump shut off switch. Thanks for the help!
