2000 5.0 Explorer Swap Into 98 Ranger 4.0

I paid a 1000 for mine. After all the parts I have sold off the explorer and my ranger and bought for the 5.0 I am 300.00 in the hole right now. I have to sale the old 5r55e with transfer case and come out even.

Now I’m jealous!

What was wrong with the explorer?

Wrecked on driver side. Bent the frame. Other than that nothing. Leather interior was mint. I sold the front and rear seats and head liner for 500.

Did it pop the side airbags?

It didn't have side airbags.

I believe that I now have all the major pieces and then some for my project.
2000 Ranger 4x4 4.0 auto (complete non running truck) $300
1999 Explorer AWD V8 (complete truck bad trans) $000
2 complete 4x4 F150’s 1981 & 1998 (Tcases, shifter and drive shafts as needed) a couple old daily drivers
2 full size Tcases (BW1356) $100
2 Small block 5 Speed transmission’s (low mileage ZF $400 & M5OD $100)
And this morning I picked up a Explorer rear axle with disc brakes & LS4:10 $100
That puts me at $1000, and I can recoop some cash selling off/scraping un-needed parts/trucks [emoji106][emoji4][emoji106]

Sounds like you do have most of it. I am guessing you are gonna run a 5spd.
The M5OD and the ZF5 are set up a little different as far as gear ratios go. The M5OD is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, OD whereas the ZF is a Low, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, OD.

Yes, I hate automatic transmissions.
I’m going to use the ZF (I ❤️ the creeper first) if I can get it to fit, it’s one BIG bitch! If not then the M5OD

Lol. I think its only 1/2 longer. You can compare them side by side.

It’s not the length so much, it’s just BIGER around. Another member put one in a older truck and said he used a body lift for extra room.
I will post pics & measurements as soon as I get them dug out of the back of the F150.[emoji106]

Got my donor truck apart. Even swapped the the auto climate control into my other Mountaineer. Works awesome!

Thanks for all the info, and great pics. Very helpful...
Glad to see others doing this too. :yahoo:

Just couldn't help myself today. I was riding by on the tractor and had to get a pic of the old girl.
