88 b2. i keep blowing the fuse for the brake light and hazard light. i did notice the automatic wiring harness on the exhaust with 2 melted wires for the revers lights. I fixed that and i am still having the blown fuse. I do not know were to begin with solving this problem.

is it wired for a trailer by chance? if so start there

I was going to say the same thing. My 88 is wired for the trailer with the long extension harness, and it's been pinched. I blow the fuses for the brake lights, turn signals, and hazards every time I fold the LR seat down.

If you have the trailer plug in side go over the loom carefully and look for breaks in the insulation.

great minds think alike :D

no trailer. blow the fuse every time i hit the brake or put the hazards on. it is a 15 amp fuse in the number 1 slot of the fuse block. i did have some wires laying on the exhaust for a bit. i fixed those wire. but it was to do with the reverse light. i am just stumped on this one.

Pull your rear bulbs and check them. If one of the filaments burnt and fell across the other one it can pop the fuse.

This is what I do.

Connect a test light across the fuse and review the wiring diagram for that fuse.

If the test light is lit across the fuse there is a short to ground. Wiggle the harness and check each device on the circuit until the test light turns off or flickers and that is the source of the short circuit.

You know Brutus, that give me an idea for a test light.

I need to go to the junk yard now.

Solder fuse tips to plate light sockets.

Good idea. I have a couple of fuse tips crimped on to a length of wire. It's nice to be able to hang the light out and be able to see it from anywhere.

Well I threw in a 30 am fuse. Put the 4 ways on. Felt the flasher canaster. Seamed very week. I replaced the 30 amp and put 15 amp fuse. Well every thing worka. Did not blow a fuze. But with the hazards on and the brake on. The brake lights don't blink and the front amber lights stay on solid. Does that seam right?

That's normal.

Also remember ford is famous for using 2 flasher deals one in the front of the fuse panel and one directly on back of the fuse panel directly behind the front one
