Connecting rod bolts/nuts

What are we putting back together?

a 2006 4.0L SOHC. The same one I hydrolocked.. just having to buy the parts at my leisure when I have the money, and now I have the money, I really can't see spending $240 on nuts alone from Fordparts..

You shouldn't need to replace those.

Really? Well I had them pulled apart.. I was also told I needed to replace them. They are a TTY.. would these work if I wanted to replace them?

Ok, yeah, they are. I looked at the tear down which usually tells you to remove and discard if they are non-reusable. Looking at the assembly it does say to use new ones.

If the threads are the same and the length is similar I don't see why you couldn't use bolts instead of studs. Held together is held together.

yes you can use them but in many cases you need to have the rods big end resized at a machine shop if the bolts dont have the caps in perfect alinment and I would have a good look at the rod that was hydro locked

Myself, i wouldnt waste money rebuilding a 4.0 when you can get them for around 300$ all day long
