Twister 85 B2 Build

You can get a dial angle finder from home depot for like $10-15, stick it on the radiator support and then get your engine to sit as close as you can to that.

It isn't critical it is exactly dead nuts, your truck will very rarely ever be sitting perfectly level.

I think I have one of those sitting around, ill have to dig it out. I started back at school so my time is limited. I am hoping to get the engine and tranny back in this weekend for good. I got a small spacer made for the t case so that bolts up fine.

Got the engine thrown back in, with the tranny on its crossmember. Found my angle thing, with the washers I had already put on, the engine and radiator support are within a few degrees so I am going to call it good :)

While bolting the engine mounts down, I was surprised to see that the rear oil drain bolt isn't going to interfere with the ttb bracket like everyone said it would.

You must have got your engine way back to do that, which is fine and a big plus for you.

I think a lot of it is probably how the body is sitting on the frame, mine is nowhere near that cherry but I am less than an inch from the firewall.

Or maybe Ford wasn't that picky on how their firewalls were stamped...

Well whatever the reason I'm delighted that it clears it.

Does anyone know what the size of the bolts are that hold the transmission crossnember to the frame?

This is the bolt.

I don't remember, IIRC they were metric...

Drill a new hole and use a new bolt.

Ugg hate how much time school takes up. Anyway, got new holes drilled in the frame for the transmission cross member. Got the cross member put in and bolted down and the transmission bolted down. Tomorrow I am going to try and get the fuel pump plumbed in. Question about the filter, I've seen a couple people reccomend to ditch the filter that comes with the pump (Mr gasket 12s) and use a different aftermarket one. Is there a specific reason for that? Is it just a terrible filter?

I found a different aftermarket one from my buddy that I'm going to use.

Adobe say to put a nipple fitting in the filter location so and put a length of house on that and the filter on the hose. Make for changing the filter much easier and you can use about any filter of your choice.

I used the filter that came with the pump on the pump and put an inline filter behind the carb. I just used a plain Wix steel can inline filter.

Well the plan is to use just a small barb where the filter would go on the pump and use the one I found from my friend before the carb. Think that would mess something up?

I don't think it would hurt a thing, I plan on doing the same thing one day. But be sure to run a folder before the pump. I run a clear filter before my carb. My filter on my pump didn't need replaced but it's recommended to change it every year anyways.
