89 Ford Ranger SAS

Ya we did. All the tools in my truck, and all of the food and camping in his haha
What kind of a welder do you have?
Can you still get parts for it?

Dang. I want to go wheeling with you guys haha.
I got a thermal-arc 250 amp.
yeah, parts aren't bad at all. They have parts lists on every door and part, and the MIG gun is TWECO, the TIG torch uses the same parts as a weldcraft 17 air cooled, etc etc. Sure beats the cost of a miller or lincoln...

Holy heck ya it does haha. 180 amp miller or lincoln cost between $900-$1000.....

I sported a harbor freight welder back in high school haha
However, if your warranty is up you are down river without a paddle. They don't sell parts, as soon as the liner went bad I had to get a whole new welder.....

before you swapped your front axel how did you deal with the negative cambering?
( i think thats the correct term)

You can get different angled c bushings for the front. That is what got mine pretty close. Then I just lifted if more and it is perfect now.
If that was not enough, you can grind the welds down and hit the knuckles off then spin them and re-weld.

This is a link for narrowing your dana 44, but is shows how to set camber too. Scroll to the bottom. :icon_thumby:

Thats castor your talkng about. He asked about camber which is the top of the tires leaning in/out

haha my bad, I read it wrong.
My dana 44 came with 0 degree camber selves (which I think most come with). It was pretty stinking close so I left it. Just rotate the tires a lot! :icon_thumby:

holy poop.
here is the best I can help then lol

Okay day one:
P.S someday it will be a v8 but for now this will be just fine.
I picked up a ford explorer for $500 dollars and drove it home!!!! :yahoo:
Then this happened all in one day.

Not bad for one day.
Just ordered a gasket set for the motor. Unfortunately I still need a computer for an auto trans. Wont be able to work on it again until Thanksgiving. Then I will probably actually swap the motor over during winter break :icon_bounceblue:

You don't want a manual trans?

I'm sick of mine too. Definitely going with a built full-manual 4r70w with my small block swap.

It is not that I don't. I just have an auto in my truck right now. I don't want to have to swap everything over right now. By the time this transmission goes I will hopefully be doing a v8 swap anyways. Plus I kind of like my auto lol The only thing that sucks is my low range kind of sucks and driving in the hills is no fun.

It wouldn't be easier to swap in the manual since that is what you have the wiring harness for?

No, it is only like two wires.
If I swap the manual over, I have to put in a clutch and cut up my carpet. On top of that, I would have the wrong dash and a steering column (the explorer's is trashed so I can't use it). To much work haha

Also, my auto was rebuild less than 50,000 ago. It is still in really good shape. :icon_thumby:
