Twister 85 B2 Build

It varies by swap.

Make yours what you think is a tad short. It is a lot easier to go back and make them longer if need be than to make them shorter.

OK that's what I figured, I'd rather pull it out and put it back in a few time rather than cut to much

Get the other side done and set that bad boy between the rails for good.

Here is it set in there, not sure weather it needs mire cut or not. I ran out of time tonight.

Space between firewall and head on passenger side.

Also this just crumbles away, I'm gonna have to replace after I am done with swap.

You think I should drop it down any furthur. I slotted it down 1 1/2 in from where I drilled the first hole.

No. Since you have a body lift, you should be fine with any hood clearances, etc... remember, the mustang mounts set the engine lower then the plate mounts would anyways.

Get a picture from the front with the cab sitting on top and I'll compare that to how mine is our you can look at the first page of my build thread to compare heights. The air cleaner on mine is from a 3.8 liter tbi engine, the rod for the cleaner is higher then the to of the cleaner top.

Also what is your clearance to your ttb bracket? You want there to be as much as you can get.

Which ttb mount, the one the rear drain runs into or the one that bolts onto the engine cross member?

The rear sump one, the passenger ttb mount on the crossmember.

Mine isn't quite that far along but I have one of those too.

I haven't been able to find a place to get a new bucket, duff has fancy ones that are set up for twin shocks but that is it.

Wonder if it is the same from a Ranger to a BII?

It has been 9 months since I was shopping for them, BG didn't show anything for a Ranger then...

Hmm didn't think of that, I don't see why they would be different.

Also, I may have to switch which FEAD I am going to use. I test fit my radiator in and tried to put the water pump on bare and it was a no go, or I guess shove the radiator under the core support, but I think switching the FEAD might be easier. Was the explorers or the sn95 mustangs shorter?

The Explorers is a little shorter, the SN95 is almost as short and you can reuse your harmonic balancer (if it is 50oz, if not you are screwed with either option)

I have a write up in the "submit your tech article" section about putting the EX belt drive in my Ranger.

It is fairly involved and can get kinda pricy... but does clear out a lot of room and clean up the engine bay.

One potential refit I might do on mine down the road is go to a 5.0 Explorer radiator. With the bodylift I think I have the depth to keep it from dangling down below the frame rails. The HD 4.0 Explorer one JUST keeps up and I have to watch it with idling.
