302 with 351 Windsor heads ?

Well... sort of. The F150 didn't get a roller block until 95ish (IIRC), so with the OP's motor, yes. There is also some variance in combustion chamber volume (60-62cc's is the range I have read), but that ranges throughout all E7TE production, not just trucks.

And the 351 heads have a 1/2" bolt hole, and the 302 heads have a 7/16" bolt hole.

Just throwing this out there.... I have a really nice intake off of an 85 GT I am going to be listing in the classifieds.

That is a roller block, spider in the valley is a give away. The 4H19 would be Aug 19 '94' casting date. Could use that cam with 1.7 ratio rockers and bring the spec's up to that of a Mustang GT, cheap HP increase. All depends on buget and shape of the motor. Just about any 302/5.0 intake would work, Explorer being the best EFI. Normal truck intakes said to be too tall for the hood.

Well I am doing a cal induction hood scoop and I don't want carbureted it's time for a change

which intake were you planning on running with cowl induction? most ford EFI 5.0 intakes point the throttle body in a weird way.

are you planning a ducting/air box set up? or maybe a carb manifold drilled for efi? a tbi set up? those would lend themselves a bit easier to a cowl induction :icon_confused:

No carb, so switching from a screwdriver to a laptop for fuel/air tuning :)
Make sure the PCM will accept such changes.

since my engine is on the high-performance side. i run a Holley ecm, which has far more tuneability than any OEM ecm.

I was told by the people at the "Hot Rod Barn" in Knoxville, TN. that the 351W heads would not work on a 302, BUT the 351C heads would and also the 351C intake would work, but you would have to change out the pistons to ones that have the cutouts in them for clearance for the valves.

this is what I was told, but I really don't know myself, I have never tried any head swaps.

Well, yes and no. The head bolts on a 351 are 1/2" and the 302 are 7/16" bolts. MANY people have just slapped them on (with washers) and been fine. The correct way would be to buy the bushings and they will work fine. In fact, this is the only major difference between the two with the E7TE casting.

And with ANY head swap, you have to use the proper pistons or you'll do damage.

The Windsor heads interchange, and the dowel pins in a 302 block will hold the 351 head in position just fine without accounting for the larger bolt holes.

I really appreciate the help you guys I'm still torn on what I want I still have a lot of people telling me to go carb so there's no tuning prosess

Well, I personally hate carbs. With a passion.

Really, a stock EFI set up won't require any tuning, with the possible exception of setting the timing. If you get a donor harness and ECU, it's really pretty straight forward. I personally would rather use a distributor, but lots of guys prefer the Explorer DIS (Distributorless Ignition System).

I didn't even know that they made a dis is it harder to time one of those ?

They are timed based on a camshaft position sensor and a million other things feed to the computer that determine the timing and it retarding/advancing.

Basically look up some images of explorer 302s and you will see what I mean.
