I finally dug into my Ranger. It hasn’t been touched really since my last wheelin’ trip in March where I broke an axle shaft.
First I had to fix my car. The rear wheel bearings were bad and it needed brakes all the way around. Especially caliper brackets. The salt took its toll on those. So I have been driving the dually for the last 6 days. I miss daily driving an 8lug truck. At 100 miles a day though, it was hurting the wallet.
Showing off this air lift again
Rally Car??
Of course I had to admire the dually for a minute after I finished the car. I pulled the cap off and I traded Plum's dad wheels and tires. No more steelies.

Ok, now to the Ranger
There is mud everywhere. Ugh I hate mud haha. But that’s what I get for playing in the mud for hours and hours without an axle shaft.
I did end up bending my knuckle. It is bent at the top ball joint and the bottom snap ring is gone since the groove no longer protrudes though the knuckle. I am going to call around today to see what I can find. What sucks is that a friend offered me a complete FW D44 in Feb for $80. The housing was shot and bent, but the guts and knuckles were good. I passed on it because I didn’t have the time to go get it. That is coming back to haunt me now lol.
Did I mention I hate mud?
Another picture of the knuckle. I am probably just going to weld it and run it for the June trip.
Yummy!
Then I pounded the rest of the broken shaft into the carrier so I could pull the carrier and remove it
I was hoping it would be all twisted and cool looking, but it’s not. It sheared quite nicely.
Next to the newer shaft
