1997 mazda b4000 which motor?

I can't get to the truck to check.... So here it is,


What 4.0 liter V6 is in a 1997 Mazda B4000 4x4? ohc or sohc?

Why? try to figure out how big of a job it would be to replace the timing chain..

OHV, and my VIN code is X for engine (8th digit).

Is that supposed to be OHC or OHV.... I didn't think they switched from over head valve to OHC or SOHC until 1999 for some reason. However I could be completely WRONG...

def not an ohc, pretty sure they didn't put sohc's into rangers until 2001.

the explorers got the sohc in 97 or 98

Yep, OHV. Rangers & B Series didn't get the SOHC 4.0 until 2001.
