1988 Bronco II Upper Ball Joints

I have a student that needs to replace the ball joints and the upper camber adjustment has rusted itself to the ball joint shaft. I can not get it to remove at all. Any help would be great.

A good heating via torch and then a large hammer......

^ You dont ever want to really "heat" axle components. They're heat treated metal.

Did the ball joint snap. If not use a pickle fork at the top off the knuckle and beat on it.

The camber bushing is installed from the top while the knuckle with the balljoint attached is installed through the bottom off the beam.

Air hammer and the crooked chisel bit work well for me most of the time.

Alternatively you can try getting the lower joint unconed from it's ear and then drive the upper joint out with the pointed chisel bit.

Soak it with PBblaster over night.I used the balljoint press to press it out and tossed it.And coat the new one lightly with anti seize.

Coat the whole truck liberally with anti-seize. Just not the brakes or anything that is supposed to get lock-tight.

X2 if you reside in the north. I keep having to break bolts cause I bought mine from a member who lived in an area that salted the roads....

I got mine to start moving with a long punch from the bottom once the axle is disassembled.Then I was able to get it from the top.
