Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

look man... you CAN gear your own axles. its not that hard.
it'd save you LOTS of money.

main thing is that you have the tools. torque wrench. bearing remover. micometer. dial indicator.

I'm fine with having someone else do it.....really not gonna cost that much, guy I go to is pretty cheap....parts cost the same whether I buy them or the shop I go to does. Maybe I'll find some used gears by chance on CL...Plus my time isn't cheap, I'd rather have a shop do it and be done with it in a day, instead of fiddling with it for say 6hrs that I could be studying for engineering finals :icon_thumby: With work and school I'm swamped. Time is money, I can't pay myself :icon_twisted:

Thing is me and father have been going to this small shop our whole lives, and we know the guy and he always gives us extras deals. Also, my dad's company uses him almost exclusively for any drivetrain work on the fleet. We like to give him any business we can since times are tough and that is his sole income which is him doing what we all love to do, work on trucks and wheel.

all good.
time is one thing.. i know how it feels sometimes. i'm not in engineering school but i'm a senior in Managerial Finance stuff at Ole Miss.
but being scared of it is another..
gearing is honestly easy if you have the right tools. if you know someone that does it cheap, then good.. go for it. i have friends that'll do it for beer/pizza.. so we usually hang out and get it done.

Yeah I don't fear it, it is just that the lazy side comes out and our friend I have do it benefits. Win/Win lol

Had I more extra time and money I probably would just buy the tools and do it myself....then I could help others too :icon_cheers:

i just missed a smoking deal on a TJM bumper the guy wanted $300 on Reno craigslist but he just sold it last night. i talked to him and he said he wasnt sure wahat model it was but it looked identical to yours.

I've been thinking lately about swapping a 1354m in......my electric transfer case has been acting up last couple times I have wanted to use 4x4. Hit and miss, sometimes it works other times the Hi Lo lights just flash on the dash...would be a pretty easy weekend swap.

Do it.

I had no idea. I'll try an find out this week what a new one might cost through them.

Check broncograveyard.com, I got mine for around $50 new. Best place I found for parts.

I agree. They have everything. They have a lot of stuff not listed on their website. Give them a call. Ive delt with them a half dozen times. They were the only ones that had an oil baffle for the Dana 35. They had it to me the next day, but overnight shipping raped me.
