As some of u guys know, im planning to do a Dana 30 Swap.
ill go leaf sprung. because seems like the easier way with the type of frame my truck has.
this is the general ideas and planning thread
http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115601

Since i wont be able to achieve the whole 4wd conversion at once, i divided it into 4 stages.

Stage 1: get the axle, steering box, leaf springs, and misc stuff to install and get the axle ready(seals, bearings, ect.)

Stage 2: install and fine tune axle and new front suspension

Stage 3: get transmission parts, either separate parts or a 4wd m5OD to convert my trans to 4wd.

Stage 4: install and fine tune transmission.

my current goal is to save 263 usd to cover stages 1 and 2.
my current saving is 97 usd.
ill be updating the parts fund everytime im able to save some money for it.

I wanna keep this where i don't have to go find it....waaaaaahhhahahaa

Almost forgot to say make sure you get the larger ujoint axles for your D30. Im running CV shafts and havent had a problem yet but have my ujoint shafts ready.

SAS update:
I went to check the D30 today. The guy still doesn't know what gearing it has, i coulnd't see it because he has it somewhere else, and now hes telling me that for the price he can't include the brakes.
Soo i went to another place. For 316USD, hes giving me a HP D30, with 4.10 gears, full brakes and selectable air locker.
Needless to say, ill save more so i can get that one.
SAS axle goal: 316
SAS axle current saving: 184

Man RSH.........them chickens be layin some eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:yahoo:

How can he not include the brakes, like they are really worth that much. Gearing in a stock D30 could be 3.55, think that was the most common but some had 3.73.

I agree, get the other axle.

Yeah not worth to even go back to look at it, and he was supposed to call me 2 days ago, and still no call.
Ill go check the other one on friday. ill bring pics :icon_thumby:

The rollbar is finally installed, grinded/sanded/painted and the lights are installed.
Now i just need to wire them

man, if i was down ther, id have that guy paying me to take the axle. (im a salesman, when somepone wants a car bought, or parts haggled, they bring me) I usually can talk someone asking 450 down to 300 without too much work.

Haha, its not worth anyway. I hope the other axle is good and ill save the extra money for it.

This was a very productive day.
I coulnd't check the Dana 30, because the guy had to go out, Maybe tomorrow ill go look at it, and ill try to talk him down on the price.
I did the contact with another guy that will buy my front suspension.
That means that the funds for the 4WD M5OD will be here as soon as I take the IFS off.
Also, axle fund udpate:
Axle cost: 315 usd.
Savings: 242 usd.

I got the transmission.
it came off a 91 4WD 2.3
It has a 1350 BW manual t case.
The trans looks dirty from the outside, but we took the top cover off, and the internals are super neat, no debris, dust or even oxidation.

Ill go clean it up next week, change the seals, and mount it to see if theres no noises so i wont have to tear it apart and swap parts on my 2wd trans.
seems like im missing a bushing or something on the t case lever linkage
Ill check on detailed pictures and see how we can fabricate something to make it work.

This thing uses the same ATF fluid as my 2wd one right?
so does the t case?

Ok now the pics, ill take better ones next time.

Looks good. It's missing a few bolts in places and needs some cleaning.
