Project 4x4 Commuter Mazda

Ppi is suppose to be like 300. I'll measure the free length later when I'm back at the house. And I'll dig up that link to which ones they are.

If i remember, they were 300ppi and 22" or 22.5"

That sounds right

Great looking truck!! I love how you can keep it so clean yet still offroad it, I would never be able to do it.

Might be about perfect actually...

Well you should see it lately! It needs a good polish and wax job. I added a few pretty ugly scratches too this weekend :bawling: but overall the sheet metal is in excellent condition considering its 14 years old.

i'll get you that true measurement of free length after i get off work. it'll be around 7 or so.
best i can figure they are the deaver part number CSH09, 66-77, 4.5 inch

Wish I had another vehicle, I'd trade you your coils for some of my TTB stuff since I see you have an ad over on RF for TTB gear.

Sorry! Need to go wheelin in the meantime! :thefinger:

well i'll ship you my d28!!!

It wouldn't last behind the 33's and lock-rite! Better just donate it to a new owner of a boat :thefinger: :icon_rofl:

I believe a SAS to be as easy as the following (nearly bolt on?):

James Duff arms
James Duff/ThatGuy track bar bracket (or fab my own, pretty easy)
James Duff or Wild Horses EB coils
Lower spring retainers
Ford FW HP D44 narrowed to EB width (rebuilt with 4.88's, ARB, new brakes, ball joints
New Tie rods machined by WFO
New track bar and heims
Warn Hubs
Tranny crossmember
Spacers for rear axle?

Am I missing anything else (besides wheels/tires for 5 on 5.5 pattern)

Makes my Hellas look like a joke.

I think my check gauge light has burnt out, I have never put that much fuel in. I usually fill up long before the light comes on.

Light comparisons for the new 10" bar.

Now thats alot cooler than gears (for now at least)!

My reasoning (and dad's reasoning) have resulted in the following: Still gonna regear the D35, and fit it with an Aussie (my lock-rite is not working good) and wheel it for at least a year. Might as well get some use out of all the new parts I have put into it. I might go FW too. Probably BFG 35x12.5 or 37x12.5's possibly if I go with an Atlas case as well.

In the meantime after the gear swap, I will be collecting a barrage of parts. Of which includes all the accouterments that go with a SAS: HP D44, JD RA's, Coils, tabs, steering, trac bar mounts ect ect as well as a newer, lower mileage 4.0L and trannsmission. Going to stay automatic. Goal is a truck that can pull DD if I want to do so, yet conquer some fairly gnar gnar trails.

But until then...will be saving back up for some 4.88's in the D35....which isn't a big deal, since I will be too busy to wheel anyway.....haven't had time to do the expo swap either....one of these days.

Anyways...check the for sale section, I have a compressor for sale and my Hella 700FF's.
