hi, i was considering removing my muffler and replacing it with piping of the same length and a turndown under the bed, in hopes of getting better sound. would this this kill my gas mileage? will this new exhaust set-up (less bends) make my truck run different because of less back pressure? :icon_confused: any help is appreciated, thanks.

it won't change anything. it might cause a terrible droning noise in the cab though.

if you're going to do it, its probably a good idea to just connect the tailpipe all the way back and exit away from the body.

i tried the same thing only i used a muffler.. drove a couple miles and reattached the tailpipe cause it was an awful sound in the cab under any load

It will sound like crap without a muffler, however I have a 20 dollar 2in in 2in out raptor muffler that dosnt have any tube after it and with the windows closed its nice and quite.

However its still pretty loud and has a good tone

i like the way my 4.0 sounds w/ no muffler.....
