I may be going to look at a 94 explorer tomorrow. The woman on the phone says its a v8 not a v6. I did not think the 94 had a v8 option. Its not been modified. Is she mistaken or could it be a v8?

Just a follow up. Yes it was a v6 as expected. I didnt even drive it. I specifically asked questions on the phone. Good tires? She said yes. They were toast with the drivers tire completely bald on the inside tread. So, either bad ball joints or messed up ibeam. Does it run quiet, any exhaust problems. No, not at all she said. As soon as it started I can hear noise coming from the drivers side. Looks like a busted egr tube. or cracked manifold or flange gasket. Most likely the egr tube. Either way it sounded like a ghetto mobile. I asked about rust, she said none. The rocker panel on the pass side was mia for about a foot in front of the rear wheel. the interior was toast, completely filthy tan crap. Drivers door was about to fall off, bad hinge. Both front fenders had huge gaps at the bottom and were pulled out at the bottom also like the truck was bent or something, like someone had gone all dukes of hazzard with the thing. Not to mention that as soon as I pulled up I see a car dolly parked at the side and hes got at least 6 other assorted vehicles with no plates hanging around, not projects either, resells. Like I said I didnt even drive it. It had been listed at 1200. I told him I didnt want to lowball him so I would pass and thanked him for his time. Good thing it was fairly local to me.

A lot of people selling vehicles, even quite a few dealerships have absolutely no clue what options are in the vehicle they are trying to sell. I see this problem quite often. If I'm in the market for a vehicle I always research the vehicle before even looking at it so I know exactly what the vehicle should have.

Sounds like that Explorer was a pile of junk.

Yeah, but on the other hand how many people start messing with vehicles once they get so old.

I don't think there is a single piece of my power train or brake system that can be looked up correctly with the information on my door tag anymore.

My 87 is currently equipped with a 4.0, an M5OD, and BW1354, D-35, 31-Spline 8.8, rear disc, 1-piece drive shaft on an ex-cab. Not a single one of those were even around in February of 1987 when my truck was put together, but every last one of them is in there now.

And for the record, I have seen a 5.0 equipped 94 Explorer. I just wasn't factory equipped.
