hi i have a drive shaft from a 88 f150 i need it to bolt upto the 88 7.5 but the pinion flange is to small to let the drive shaft bolt up so i bought a explorer pinion flange thinking it might bolt up but it wont to many splines for the pinion shaft so i wonder if a newer ranger 7.5/8.8 pinion flange will work with the 88 7.5 and the f150 drive shaft

Just buy a new flange yoke, easier than messing around with the pinion flange.

90+ 8.8s and 7.5s have the larger pinion flange FWIW.

What you need is a flange from an Aerostar.
It uses the large pinion flange and a 7.5 rear axle.
I just got my second one...now I can rebuild my back up 7.5 rear axle.
Explorers are all 8.8 rear axles and the flange will not work on a 7.5

I know exactly what you want and I gave you advise.

You can flange the flange yoke on teh driveshaft to a smaller patter that way you don't have to change the pinion flange, if you don't know what you're doing you can change the pinion bearing pre-load when you change the pinion flange and burn up the bearings.

This is what I'm talking about changing.

Doesn't have to be from an Aerostar, 90+ 7.5s and 8.8s have the larger pinion flange.
