Just like the title says, been having an issue with being stuck in 2-high for awhile on my '99 Ranger and decided to try the tips under the Transfer Case Troubleshooting section.
Down by the bottom of the page, the suggestion submitted by roxy33 looked to be worth a try.
Sure enough, that was the key! Now have fully-functioning 4x4 again!
We went a bit differently. When separating the blue disc, the clamping portion of the plastic was cracking. Ended up just shaving that whole part off with my pocket knife.
Used a new pencil eraser to clean up the contacts, then cleaned it off with a Q-tip and alcohol. When putting the blue disc back together, we sealed it up with blue RTV, then used the RTV to remount the motor to the transfer case housing.
Thanks roxy!
