I have a 92 ranger 2.3 single cab. This wire is disconnected it appears to be ripped. I can't tell where it originally went. One is black one is black and blue

And it is just 1 wire?

2WD or 4WD truck?
4WD control module can be behind the seat, but there will be a large group of wires

I assume bench seat since you didn't say drivers or passenger side seat

Could this wire have been added by previous owner?
Most stock wiring is in a harness or protector covering

And is anything not working?
i.e. dome light or ???

It's 2wd. The wire had a sleeve. IT was all black. I got the truck from a friend it currently has a no start issue and I had found the wire behind the seat . it has a clip but it looks like it comes down the pillar on the driver side and runs to under the carpet. The dome light appears to be working. THIS wouldn't be a sensor or something that would cause a no start would it? I don't understand why it won't let me post a pic

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Does the dome light work when you open the door? or only when you turn on the switch?

RonD's link indicates the black&blue wire might be the dome light wire to the door jam switch. Which means; If it isn't connected, dome light would work with switch, but not by opening door.

The solid black wire, could be the power wire for dome light. But if that's not connected, I would not expect dome light to work at all.

No, the loose wire behind the seat in the cab wouldn't cause a no start

No start
When you turn on the key do you hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds?
It is not quiet, you can easily hear it "HUMMMM"
Turn key off and on a few times to make sure you either hear it or don't hear it.

Check all the fuses in the engine fuse box, pull out each Relay as well and check connections for corrosion.

If starter motor works then do a 50/50 test
Take off the large air tube on intake manifold
Hold open the throttle plate
Spray gasoline or Quick Start(ether) into the open manifold
Try to start
If it starts and then dies, fuel is the problem
If it doesn't start, then Spark is the problem
50/50

1992 2.3l uses a timing belt and these can break, and you would have a no start.
There is a timing belt cover on the front of the engine, but you can often see the Cam gear at the top, see if it is moving when someone tries to start engine
