Ive had a 302 in my ranger before and it blew a head gasket or something because it was rinning hot bubbling through the rad and blowing alot of water out the exhaust. Soipulled it to replace the gaskets and do some cleaning up inthe engine bay. Then i came across a running 351w out of a 1974 Gran Torino, soi jumped on it and bought it. The 302 is stock except for being bored .040 over. The 351w is completely stock. What would you guys do? I have a C4 trans that was in it the first time around. It will be a strictly strip only truck. I have all the stuff to put the 302 nack in and have running. I was thinking i could put the 351 in and build the 302 or 308 with the over bore, with a 347 stroker kit and use .040 over pistons and get 370 something cubic inches. Or put the 3o8 in and make the 351 a 393 or 408 stroker. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance

Awhile back I posted in the general forums about 302 vs 351. The general consensus was that with a 302 you would leave yourself wanting more and with a 351 it opens a lot more options. Obviously gas isn't an issue on the strip.

You might look up that thread there is alot of good responses and information.
