That I would buy another ranger.
Some of the old timers around here will remember my old truck, known as "rusty". After 300k+ miles of smashing deer, relentless road salt, being over loaded, pulling heavy things, etc, the years of abuse took a toll, and she was retired in 2009 to the back field at my old house (now my dads). She had all the original pumps/accys that came on it in 87. Only the water pump was in faliure.
Fast foward to 2014, I get the bug up my ass to go out and see if i can bring her back to life one more time, if the ol girl had any will to live. After seeing the number mice, groundhogs, and whatever else did to the wires i gave up on the dream of rusty #1 shreding up the dirt roads once again.
Now, lets go to current times. Ive been in the hunt for a daily driver for a while now. My 77 F250 gets 8mpg on 93 and i drive alot. So, while on craigslist i see an ad for an "85 Ranger, 6cyl/5sp". He had one pic posted of the back passenger side, it was a bit rusty, but not bad. I sent a text and 2 days later went to see it.
I get there, the truck is literally one color on the pallet darker then rusty was, XLT trim, 2 tone striped, almost a identical twin. I talk to the guy for a minute and peek inside, notice the warning cluster was not the pre 86 style, thought, "ok maybe its a different bezel".
Popped the hood...and lord behold a 2.9 bolted to a TK5, spinning a 3.45 rear...all bolted in a 87 XLT.
I found more less, rusty, I was beyond excited. Yes, it needs a few things, its not getting fuel, and the keys are missing, but getting a time warp for 375 bucks...no complaining here...
Plus this one has AC and cruise, the AC is non functioning though. Sorry for the large pics, but the 1st 3 pics are Rusty #2, last 3 are rusty #1.
