Our church just got a new(to us) Soundboard a few months ago, and I got the job of setting it up. I have it hooked up just fine and all the Mic's work, piano, monitors, etc. We had the sound guy that we bought it from come in and adjust the sound from the mic's so that we weren't getting feedback. Just letting you know that my background is pretty much zero on operating soundboards. The only experience I have is on our previous 7 channel. Now we have this 32 channel and we don't use even half of it, but we got a great deal on it so we picked it up.
My question is that we have a 15 year old girl who has a fantastic voice, however, when she sings it really seems to get lost in the background of the lead singer and music. I try to turn her mic up, but once it gets to where you can hear her we start getting feedback. I am wondering if it is the mic itself and maybe we need to get a new one for her. I try not to mess with the "range" settings (which are the teal switches in the photo), but I am not afraid to if someone tells me too. Hopefully, we have some DJ's or other soundboard technicians out there to help.
EDIT: or if someone knows of a good manual or reading material of how to's or troubleshooting that would be helpful too
