Will be replacing the heads soon, unknown history on the truck (150,xxx).

While I have it torn down, what else should I replace for preventative maintenance and ease of installation while it's apart and at the same time not just throw a bunch of extra money away.

Thanks

I would test the heads first
4.0l OHV heads did crack between valve seats IF overheated, weak spot in the casting, but otherwise they did last.

If trans is off then replace rear main seal, but that is SOP for any engine

Check push rod ends for wear

Good read here on the 4.0l OHV: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/40rebuild.shtml

The CPS(cam position sensor) and Synchro housing is hard to get to so you may want to change it, the synchro housing bushings can wear out
Good read here on that: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/4_0-camshaft_synchronizer.shtml
