I've been looking around on the website and haven't found any thing on this problem and I'm not even sure if this is in the right category but oh well. I'm new here and am not used to everything yet. Anyways, this started about 2 months ago and i was driving in 2wd and the 4x4 Hi and Lo stated to blink on the dash. It blinked a couple times then stopped then came back on about 3-4 minutes later and it kept doing that. I tried to put it in 4x4 Hi and it didn't do anything. The next day though it is fine and both Hi and Lo work. This has happened 2 times since then and it just did it on my way home from school and i want to fix it before i actually need to use 4x4. I've disconnected my battery to try to reset everything and it didn't work and that's about it. If you have heard of this problem and know how to fix it let me know please. Thanks.

Also, its a 1998 and I haven't used 4x4 in about 3 weeks. The last time I used it was in the mountains

Seeing as it is an intermittent 4x4 problem, you have already isolated the key components. I would venture a guess at maybe the shift motor, the switch, or I believe it is called the GEM (?). If it does it again take note of exactly what, where, and how you were driving the truck (weather, speed, road conditions...) We will help you get sorted out! :icon_thumby:
