We have a 94 ranger with axle code 91, looking for axle that goes into the housing on the drivers side, already checked are local junk yard and everything but.
Are these rare or what? Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

The one thing I guess I forgot to mention it's for the front axle? I'am assuming it should still not matter just as long as it's a 28 spline axle? Thanks for the info.

Every ford explorer from 91 to 95 has them.

With rangers just make sure its d35 front. Should be 92 to 96 i think (i forgrt exact years)

What motor? I'm wondering if he has one of the hybrid front axle. I forget what years they were found in, but it's a D-35 set of beams and outers with D-28 guts in the pumpkin. Look at the aluminum pumpkin, if it's smooth with no ribs, you likely have a hybrid.

If that's the case, changing to a true D-35 is easy. You need the pumpkin with the correct gear ratio and the axle shafts and it will bolt right in.

It has the 4.0 for a motor. I will go back out to the local salvage yard and see what I can find this time. Before when I was looking i just checked the door jams looking for axle code 91 and never found one. And there a lot of rangers there.

4.0L V6 = regular D35 (not the smooth "hybrid" D28/35 thingamajig junk).

Yes, any front shaft from a '91-'94 Explorer, or '91-'97 Ranger (with ribbed case like yours) should fit yours. Gear ratio (axle code) shouldn't matter. Axle should be 27 spline.
