I'm in need of a 2.3 engine for a 89 ranger. i would consider a rebuild or a good used one. I'm located in Dalton, Ga and would consider paying someone else to rebuild the current engine. I just got the truck from my brother and in November he paid over $1000 for engine work on it at a local shop. They replaced the crankshaft pulley and a sensor that i know of. they had to re-time the truck a couple of times.. He got the truck back about 3 weeks later and the next day it started losing power and jerking. we checked the oil and it was a little blue. we assumed this was a blown head gasket or something like that. He took it back to the shop and they wanted even more money to fix it. It won't start at all now. the blue color is gone from the dipstick, it just smells like gas now. the engine will turn and try to crank but won't.
does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? is there anyone you'd recommend in my area?
