I would test another vehicle for that, outside of the 12v/ground wires it will be lower voltage if any, so would be Voltage meter specific, they are not that well calibrated, lol.

And since OBD2 is universal it would have to be the same regardless of vehicle make and model, volts or OHMs

Okay, just check the ranger voltages are the same, minus the iso k line which goes to the GEM. All I can come up with is that my adapter does not support the j1850 pwm protocol for the pcm, but does support the iso 9141 that the GEM uses.

I cut the two data lines out of the loom and wired them directly to the plug which is sitting about 10” away from the pcm.

I’m gonna grab the snap on scanner from work and see how it works.

Hooked the snap on scanner up to it, worked like a charm, was able to read all engine data.. what a waste of time! Haha

Good work :icon_thumby:

Yes, knowledge can bite you in the A$$

When you KNOW the reader works and can't be the problem

I do it on firing orders, I KNOW its correct, and spend hours looking for the "real" problem, when the real problem was me and what I KNOW, lol.
