I've been having a bit of a time trying to replace my broken alternator bracket and have posted a request for a part in the parts forum.
I went to the junkyard the other day and found a 90 mustang that had the brackets intact and I took it out. I managed to get it all to fit (the steering box was a bit in the way) but the alternator from my 2.0 setup would not fit...almost but not quite.
The connectors are flipped due to the way the pivot connector is located at the opposite side on this configuration but I figured I could always buy a mustang alternator. It appears to have the same types of connectors and the only problem I can see is that the Mustang used a serpentine belt as opposed to just a single belt.
I did get the tensioner but it may be seized and I'd probably have to buy a new belt...but it otherwise, hypothetically, should work. The only difference I can see power wise is the Mustangs used a 75 amp alternator and my Ranger uses an 80 amp.
Other than that...I may be able to use the old bracket if I can fab up a way to brace it with only one bolt holding it on the block...three, but two of the holes are broken off the bracket so I'd have to use angle iron and make a V shaped support for it...
