Anyone put a Mustang alternator in a Ranger?

I've been having a bit of a time trying to replace my broken alternator bracket and have posted a request for a part in the parts forum.

I went to the junkyard the other day and found a 90 mustang that had the brackets intact and I took it out. I managed to get it all to fit (the steering box was a bit in the way) but the alternator from my 2.0 setup would not fit...almost but not quite.

The connectors are flipped due to the way the pivot connector is located at the opposite side on this configuration but I figured I could always buy a mustang alternator. It appears to have the same types of connectors and the only problem I can see is that the Mustang used a serpentine belt as opposed to just a single belt.

I did get the tensioner but it may be seized and I'd probably have to buy a new belt...but it otherwise, hypothetically, should work. The only difference I can see power wise is the Mustangs used a 75 amp alternator and my Ranger uses an 80 amp.

Other than that...I may be able to use the old bracket if I can fab up a way to brace it with only one bolt holding it on the block...three, but two of the holes are broken off the bracket so I'd have to use angle iron and make a V shaped support for it...

Ah, well...update...

I found that the broken bolt was only in two or three threads...that's why it broke...didn't realize I used a bolt that was too short for that side...so I got the broken piece out and put the bracket back on with only one bolt holding and the other side with half of the hold down missing...but it is tighter.

Also think I can order the part from somewhere but not sure if it is actually in stock...hoping it is...

On another note, the part will cost approximately $100 with shipping...and I have a friend that does CMM who can actually get a CNC program made up to have the piece cut...approximate cost of that would be about $100...but this part would be made from steel and not aluminum...maybe an extra five pounds of weight but to not have to worry about the alternator doing a nose dive into my radiator would be worth it...

Another update...I was looking at a picture of an 87 Turbo Coupe and they used the same bracket as the Mustang...so it is very doable with these engines...I like the one I have because the lower bracket is made of steel, but if finding the upper bracket is going to be a problem then I might consider just changing it out...only thing is the belt would be a bit shorter due to not having power steering...might have a bit of trial and error on that...
