My Carquest Duraspark module died over the weekend, only O'Reilly's was open so I bought a new one to get it moving (it moved for about an hour and then it died too) So I got the better one with a lifetime warrenty the second time (wasn't for sure what was wrong or I would have the first time)

Then on a whim I inquired and my Carquest still had 6 months left on the warrenty so now I have a spare to keep under the seat.

Dad says parts store one gave him fits on his F-350 until he paid Ford a couple hundred bucks for a Motorcraft one. You can get them on the internet cheaper but something like that I don't want to because of difficulty to warrenty if it did mess up.

While trying to find how to check a module I found this:

http://www.junkyardgenius.com/ignition/jeep/HEI01.html

Seems almost too good to be true, has anyone tried it?

Don't have to buy a new dizzy, everything stays stock looking and if the module dies you walk over to a tree and pick a new one... almost.

I've read of a few people using the HEI module, I think petesponies used one (don't know if he is still around).

Edit: nvm it is not in the tech article.

The one dangerranger is talking about is the EFI 8-pin module that I used when I put the fuel GM fuel injection on his 2.8l ford. that module is more complex than the other one because it works in conjunction with the gm EST (electronic spark timing)

the one you can use to replace the Duraspark module with is the 4-pin, non-EFI HEI module. it is also cheaper

I have seen a few write-ups on people using it. it works fine

also people use them to replace the CDI box on older motorcycles too.
