So I've got a friend who's got a 3.slow in that I've finally convinced to get a 4.0! Problem is, I'm gonna help him do it.. Haha oops. Well anyway, what goes into this motor swap, seems straight forward? Needs the computer/harness from the 4.0. I've got that down, what need to know is, is the transmission going to bolt up correctly? His truck is a 93' ranger, and the donor is going to be a 93' exploder. Both are manuals, both are 4x4's.

Merry Christmas

3.0l and 4.0l have different bolt patterns for transmission mounting, so along with the computer and wiring harness, the 4.0l trans will also have to come over to the Ranger.

Both are using M5OD-R1 manual transmissions but the M5OD has integrated bell housing, so not removable.
4.0l trans also has different gear ratios than 3.0l trans, so better suited for 4.0l torque

They both used the BW1354 transfer case, use which ever one is in better shape.

Alright, sweet! So he's gonna need the computer and harness, he'll need the tranny. I'll let him know! Also, you are always the first person to help whenever I ask a question, I appreciate it :)

And, Merry Christmas to you as well!
