Hello all, I have a 96 V6 Ranger(4WD) and the Speedometer is off. Now, when I got it, I was told it isn't due to bigger tires, but I am not certain. The amount the speed is off decreases as I increase speed. For example, 25mph is about 40mph on the speedometer, but 70mph shows as 80 on the speedometer. I'm not sure if that can be fixed by getting a different one of the speedometer gears listed on the tech articles. How difficult is it to change? Could it be the sensor itself? Any suggestion's y'all have would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have the clunking caused by the slip yoke, is that actually damaging, or just annoying?
Edit: So I went to pull it and saw its the yellow gear(18). And considering how far its off, im thinking about getting the 21, its what the math has lead me to anyway. Is it okay that there was a bit of trans fluid on the drive gear?
