So i got rusty #2 fired back up last night. Hearing that 2.9 roar to life like the beast it is was music to my ears....however...i made a couple boo boos along the way....
1- Like a jackass i hooked the high pressure fuel pump up wrong. As in, it was pushing fuel back to the tank. All i did was cycle the key a few times before i realized this mistake. Turned it around and got a solid 40psi at the rail (well, till the coupler on the fuel filter began leaking, that i broke and need to fix)....you think i damaged anything? Mainly worried about the low pressure in tank pump and float assembly.
2- I bought a new coil plug from the red store they call the zone. Instead of having 2 red wires and 1 green there was 2 green and 1 red, i thought, ok, no big deal, doesnt matter what color the wires are. So i hooked the 2 red to the 2 green, and the 1 green to the one red. Plugged it in and presto, it fired. But i kept smelling something, something not good, like something on fire or close to it. I shut the truck down and realized like the king kong of jack asses the plug only goes in one way (i knew this) so the wires were reversed polarity at the coil.
Truthfully shocked it started.
So i redid it, correctly this time, just ran both red wires to the one red and the one green to one green, truck started, everything seemed normal.
Anything damaged you guys think?
Thanks.
