Okay, so I am trying to replace the blinker relay (flasher box) and I'm stuck. I have no idea where it goes, except "right of the steering colmn, under the interment cluster"

I can't find anything. I took out the spedo and still nothing. please help! :icon_welder:

(the pics are pre-spedo removal)

Oh my god! If it's anything like my 99... it will be by the hood latch under the steering column. It will be 2-4 inches up from that bottom lip (reaching up from the floorboard) and it's the bright yellow box clipped to something stupid.

You shouldn't have to take apart anything.

But then again, I don't know if there's a difference between 99 and 01

It may be. Mine is right above my obdII connector. But they pry have changed it to be more of a pita job.

In fact it kinda makes sense to me.

I just went out to my 96 Ranger and tried the blinkers. From the click impact that the flasher makes. It feels and sounds like it is coming from the left side of the dash. About where the steering colum enters the dash, left side. Almost like it is in front of the fuse box.

Help this may help.

ok, according to the shop manual the flasher is in "Auxiliary Relay Box 1" which, from looking at this picture (I can send to you if you PM me an e-mail address) it can be accessed by reaching thru where your legs go when driving, up, and slightly to the right. Once you pop the cover off the box there will be 2 relays and 4 fuses. Its at the end away from the fuses.

Usually yes, but this one isn't. My info was taken straight out of the Ford published wiring and component location manuals.

Any idea where the flasher is on a 96? Mine went out and I cannot find it for the life of me!

That might help. On my 88 the fuse box was in this area, and the blinker relay was on the back of it.
