If I had to guess I'd say it's because the newest first gen is 27 years old. Prerunners that actually get used as pre-runners (rather than mall crawlers) get beat all to hell in short order. They wear out quick and don't last long. When it's time to rebuild it's time for something new.
Their are some out there, but the vast majority of what once existed are either scrapped or have long since been recycled into something bigger, better, and newer.
Oh, FWIW a section of this forum is dedicated to prerunners. You might get better results posting in there.
