So, I have a 77 ford LTD II with a 302/c4 combo that I put a holley 600 cfm carb on and 351 heads. It was rebuilt 40k miles ago, and it has good compression. I found a ranger on craigslist: https://bellingham.craigslist.org/cto/5386076119.html
It has a 2.9l and the A4LD. I want to put my 302 in the ranger, and I am too cheap for the AA kit to swap the c4 to the BW1350. It also seems that AA doesn't make it anymore, as a search on their website only brings up the adaptors for the AOD. I found a 4x4 c4 from an f250 on craigslist: https://skagit.craigslist.org/pts/5329602352.html Would that be simple enough to swap into the ranger, or are the frame rails too narrow for the full-size T/C? Also, would a body lift be required, because of the c4-T/C? I have been reading the forums but I am not sure if the body lift is required to do the swap. If a lot of stuff could be made simpler by the lift, I could go that route. My dad doesn't think the lifts are needed, but he's never swapped a 302 into a ranger. Another thing is the motor mounts. I am planning on using the 1/4" plate idea, but in a thread I saw someone use 1/2" or so spacers on top of the plates to get more height, would this be required, and is there anyone who sells them, or do I just have to make them myself? (And yes I did read the v8 swap article: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjmz7ivxZPKAhUBWWMKHXNeDZwQFghPMAU&url=http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/V8Conversions.html&usg=AFQjCNGDCLeMC6BjxMjf8d35B4dpttYI7Q&sig2=PlVmk5e0BYh8hdutY5cz9Q ) I am 17 years old and this is my first engine swap in a vehicle larger than a garden tractor. Thanks for any suggestions!
