I have a 2003 Xl Ford Ranger longbed. I have 15’s on it at the moment. I’m trying to make it higher up so I’d like to put 31’s on it. Approximately how much of a height difference can I expect from doing this and is it a bad idea. Thank you for your help.

I don’t know much about tires or anything really. Is this a joke or being serious if it’s serious I’m not gonna bother with 31’s.

Your stock tires are 29 inches. 31's are 2 inches taller... The height of the truck would rasie by half of that.

1 inch...

Your tire size is listed on the sticker on your door jam.

friendly F. Y. I.,, the measured size will differ from the stated/calculated/advertised size. for example, if you go out and measure a 31 inch tire it won't be exactly 31 inches. different brands of the same size will also vary.

without using charts

example size of 235/75-15
that tire is 235 mm/9.25" wide at the sidewall (not the tread width).
75 is the aspect ratio, the tire height is 75% of the width, or 176.25mm tall, 6.94".

top + bottom, 6.94" +6.94", plus wheel size +15" equals 28.88" tall overall.

that's a whopping 2.12" difference, only 1/2 of which is on the bottom that raises the vehicle about 1.06"

going to that size will have a small effect on braking and acceleration, nothing critical, just noticeable.
