UPDATE. I mistakenly have been calling it a VSS, when it is an OSS sensor. (not that anyone noticed or cared) I've searched and haven't found any previous posts about the difference between the smooth round sensor and the hexed flatish new one. It's an easy install, but once I pop it out of its sealed motorcraft bag it's mine..
I recently replaced my VSS with a crappy AutoZone one, and it's been almost a year, and my trucks acting odd. Strange shifting when decelerating etc etc. Well I've gone to the conclusion its either the MAF (which is a junk yard MAF since mine took a dump a lil over a year ago) my coil pack (which is a AutoZone coil since the oem one died a year and a half ago) or my torque converter based on my symptoms. ANYWAY the VSS I just bought which was guaranteed to fit, is like a hex , when my old one was a circle...
Here's the old with the new
and just the new..
what gives..?
