well i traded a 97 exploder with a 302 and AWD to an 88 bronco 2 with a 5 speed and 3.73 gears...well i just filled the tank before gas got to much. i put in $40 to fill and i got almost 3 weeks out of the last tank:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

i was putting in almost $70 a week with the sploder. now my next mod on the bronco is some 205s baby!!!!!!:icon_hornsup:

It was the AWD that killed you in the Explorer. Mine was a 2000 with a 302 and AWD and I had the same problem... Then again the lift kit and bigger tires without regearing didn't help either.

I have a '99 Explorer V8 AWD. It sucks gas pretty good. I don't know the exact figure but I have been keeping a mileage log and I think it's around 14mpg in the winter, 15-16mpg summer in town. I have an NP208 Tcase I'm probably going to swap in place of the AWD garbage, hopefully that will make it a bit better.

Gas is obviously much cheaper where you are. forty bucks would not be enough to turn off the low fuel light here.

gas getting close to $3.70/gl here. whenever i see it for much less, i fill up. well not quite as i have that 27 gal aux tank as well. so i try to keep the primary tank full and the aux half full or so. reminds me of when i had my big butt suburban with the 40 gal tank. really sucks when gas gets so expensive. but i am still getting about 18mpg even after ditching all the smog stuff, the ds conversion, and gears/tires changed out.
