Will valvetrain ticks be heard in exhaust manifold as well?

Been trying to confirm this, havent found anything on the web, wanna know your guys thoughts on it. My ticking my motor is doing is loudest in the exhaust manifold, im thinking because its a header, and thin in comparison to the rest of the motor so its transferring the noise the loudest. Thoughts? Thanks everyone

The tick coming from the exhaust is likely a leak and not valves.

Exhaust manifold leaks can/do sound like valve train ticks.

No its not an exhaust leak i mean im pretty positive, i used a stethoscope on the header not a tube, and u could hear metal like tapping, and i could also hear it in the valve cover, exhaust leaks imo are more fluttery this is crisp metal sounding

Just have someone put their hand over tail pipe and see if tick changes :)

Yes metal conducts sound very well, so valve train noises can be heard via any metal attachment.

Try unhooking fan belt and starting cold engine, you can run it a minute or two this way, without water pump.
Often easier to pin point sounds without the fan and accessory noises

If you have after mkt steel headers then I almost garontee that what you hear is an exhaust leak. Leaks are common on steel hdrs,'cause they warp when hot then cooled. :D
