Morning, I just did 4.88s in my 8.8 rear for my 97 Ranger. I bought the kit from James Oaks. The Locker is DET187C-147A. I have everything together and axles in but I can't get the pin in the center of the Locker. The Axles seem to be too close cause the pin hits the axles after the pin taper. The axles are seated in the locker and the c clips look seated also. Not sure what to do. Any advice is appreciated!

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Is it small enough that you can grind a bit off the ends of the axles? I've heard of people doing that before, obviously don't do it if you have to remove too much.

I seem to recall seeing c-clip kits available somewhere that consist of different thickness clips... Maybe something like that would help? (assuming it's only by a few thousandths that the pin isn't fitting)

I've also occasionally seen o-rings in the c-clip groove on some axles, removing those if they are present might also help.

I'd try to exhaust all other options first before grinding on the ends of the shafts.
