I know this sounds like a silly question but I'm not sure what my issue is. It only happens once in a while. A few days back it did it four times within a couple of minutes. My V6 Ranger has 120000kms on it. It's an automatic. This only happens at highway speed. I will be driving along and bang, feels like the transmission slips out of gear, but the tach doesn't move. So I'm thinking maybe a bit of water in the gas. I do live in Atlantic Canada and it has been a real cold winter. Anyway, I used some gasoline antifreeze. It went a few days working normal then this morning on my way to work, it did it once. it almost has the sensation of something heavy falling over in the box. It's hard to explain. Any input would be very much appreciated.

Sounds like the coil is getting weak and causing a misfire. Righ around 55 MPH at 1500ish RPM is where the load on the coil is highest and will cause misfires.

Not without a good scanner. The best method is to confirm which cylinder is missing, then swap the wires across the coil ( so if it's a cylinder attached to the center of the coil swap the middle wires across) and see if the miss stays or moves.
