use a brass punch and tap it off, only tap the inner race of the bearing.. then when putting it back on tap it on until it bottoms outHow should I go about removing the bearing on the mainshaft? thats what I thought i needed the puller for because I saw sombody else using one in their rebuild writeup.
Alright, I'll do that. I don't plan on replacing the gears, I'm on a low budget and I just want to get it up and running again.use a brass punch and tap it off, only tap the inner race of the bearing.. then when putting it back on tap it on until it bottoms out
are you replacing the gears also?
Alright, I got it off without damaging it. How are you supposed to stake it back in place though? And also I cant see how I can use a brass punch to get this bearing off because the gear below it is in the way. There is a big nut on the end of the mainshaft. Do not damage it to much because its going to be hard to find another one. The place I got that nut from no longer carries it.
thats what i used. just use the punch on whatever is most accessible.. you don't have to punch on the bearing itself..Alright, I got it off without damaging it. How are you supposed to stake it back in place though? And also I cant see how I can use a brass punch to get this bearing off because the gear below it is in the way.
